While our Nurture Ministries focus upon families and congregants of the church, our Mission work seeks to address the physical and spiritual needs of the larger world in the name of Jesus Christ. In that capacity, we either support or host a myriad of local, national and international projects. Some of them are: 12-Step groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcots Anonymous; the MCREST ministry to homeless individuals; a Medical Equipment Loan Closet, Feed the Bay, Prison Ministry, Red Cross Blood Drive, Vets Returning Home, Salvation Army, Hands4Detroit, Imagine No Malaria, Habitat for Humanity, NOMADS volunteer labor; and many others. In recognition of our exemplary record in mission, Grace has been designated a Spotlight Church by the Detroit Annual Conference of the UMC.
You are invited to year 7 of Hands4Detroit on Saturday, October 6, 2018! Our 2018 theme is:
In past years, we’ve picked a neighborhood to make a concentrated impact. This year, we will partner with established community organizations, joining with them as they lead in the work and become vibrant examples of Christ’s love. You are invited to be a part of this work. Here are some important action items in order to make this day successful:
- Make a goal of your team number. How many hands can you bring?
- Register online beginning Sunday, August 19, 2018.
- Collect food and personal care items for Gleaner’s Food Bank.
- Donate monetarily to offset the costs for Hands4Detroit.
- Come as a group to limit the number of cars needing parking spaces.
