Mission and Service

Scroll down for information regarding our Christmas Miracle Offering 2017

While our Nurture Ministries focus upon families and congregants of the church, our Mission work seeks to address the physical and spiritual needs of the larger world in the name of Jesus Christ. In that capacity, we either support or host a myriad of local, national and international projects. Some of them are: 12-Step groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcots Anonymous; the MCREST ministry to homeless individuals; a Medical Equipment Loan Closet, Feed the Bay, Prison Ministry, Red Cross Blood Drive, Vets Returning Home, Salvation Army, Hands4Detroit, Imagine No Malaria, Habitat for Humanity, NOMADS volunteer labor; and many others. In recognition of our exemplary record in mission, Grace has been designated a Spotlight Church by the Detroit Annual Conference of the UMC.

Christmas Miracle Offering 2017
and Cleaning Buckets

The Administrative Council, at their Sept 12 meeting, designated our Christmas Miracle offering for 2017 to support hurricane relief through UMCOR. Click here for link. That option will be available in the coming weeks on the electronic giving menu to begin to receive your donations.

Hurricane Relief

Also, the Grace UM Men will again collect cleaning bucket supplies during October to be taken to the Midwest Distribution Center in Illinois.

Please consider giving generously to both of these disaster efforts to help those who have lost everything. At the same time please continue to support Grace Church ministry and mission with your tithes and offerings.

On a side note, the restoration and refurbishment of the sanctuary’s exterior surface will begin on October 2nd and continue through early November. Thanks to all who contributed $35,216 to date for this project.

Grace Summer Box mission has been blessed this year with additional financial support from the following hard-working Missions:

2016 GUMC Bazaar & Gourmet Shoppe
GUMC Blood Drive partnership with Kohl’s Cares

We will use these funds to purchase in bulk nutritious snacks – fresh fruits & veggies – ice pops to finish off the box

We will also be providing starter school supplies & toothbrushes in the August box with these funds.

Thank you, God! We appreciate so much the many hands and servant hearts that make all of this possible!
